Clear the Ground. Start Fresh.
Excel Glycel is a widely respected non-selective systemic herbicide from Excel Crop Care (now Sumitomo). Like Roundup, it is powered by Glyphosate 41% SL, making it a "total killer" for all types of vegetation. It is the preferred choice for farmers looking to clear fields before sowing, clean up farm bunds, or maintain non-cropped areas like industrial sites and roadsides.
It works by entering the plant through the green foliage and moving down to the root system, effectively killing the weed from the inside out. This ensures that even tough perennial weeds with deep roots don't grow back.
☠️ Systemic Root Kill:
It doesn't just burn the top; it translocates (moves) to the roots, rhizomes, and tubers, ensuring complete destruction of the weed.
🌍 Soil Deactivation:
Glycel becomes inactive upon contact with soil particles. This means it has no residual activity, allowing you to sow your next crop safely just 3-4 days after application.
🛡️ Broad Spectrum Control:
Effective against a massive range of weeds:
Grasses: Cynodon dactylon (Hariyali/Doob), Echinochloa.
Sedges: Cyperus rotundus (Motha).
Broadleaf Weeds: Parthenium (Gajar Gavat), Commelina.
💰 Cost-Effective:
A highly economical solution for clearing large areas of unwanted vegetation compared to manual weeding.

Excel Glycel is a non-selective herbicide. Caution is mandatory.
Dosage:
1 Liter – 1.2 Liters per acre.
Per Pump (15L): Approx. 100 ml – 120 ml.
(Ratio: Approx. 8 ml to 10 ml per liter of water).
Method:
Use a Flat Fan Nozzle or a generic floodjet nozzle for even coverage.
Use Clean Water: Muddy water reduces efficacy (clay binds to glyphosate).
Add Ammonium Sulphate: Adding 100g of Ammonium Sulphate per pump helps soften the water and improves uptake, especially on hard-to-kill weeds.
Timing:
Apply when weeds are actively growing and have sufficient green leaves for absorption (4-6 inch height).
Avoid spraying if rain is expected within 4-6 hours.
Q1: Is Glycel different from Roundup?
A: Technically, the active ingredient is the same (Glyphosate 41% SL). The difference lies in the brand and the proprietary surfactants (stickers/spreaders) used in the formulation. Excel Glycel is a very established Indian brand known for consistent quality at a competitive price.
Q2: Can I use it in my Sugarcane or Cotton field?
A: Only with a Protective Hood. You cannot spray it over the crop. You must use a hood to shield the crop and spray only on the weeds in the furrows. If it touches the crop leaves/stem, the crop will die.
Q3: How long should I wait before sowing the next crop?
A: You should wait 3 to 5 days. This gives the herbicide enough time to travel from the leaves to the roots of the weeds. Once it hits the soil, it is harmless to new seeds.
Q4: Will it kill Parthenium (Gajar Gavat)?
A: Yes, it is very effective on Parthenium. Ensure the plant is not too old/woody. If it is flowering, increase the dose slightly or add Ammonium Sulphate.
Q5: Can I mix 2,4-D with Glycel?
A: Yes, many farmers mix 2,4-D with Glyphosate to speed up the killing of broadleaf weeds. However, sometimes this "burns" the leaf too fast, preventing the Glyphosate from reaching the roots. For deep root killing, pure Glyphosate is often better.
