Adama 2,4-D Main: The Broadleaf Weed Specialist
Clean Fields. Better Yields.
Adama 2,4-D Main is a powerful, selective systemic herbicide designed to eliminate tough broadleaf weeds without harming your grassy crops. Formulated as a soluble liquid (SL) containing 2,4-D Amine Salt 58%, it mimics the plant’s own growth hormones (auxins), causing uncontrollable growth in weeds that eventually destroys them from the roots up.
It is the trusted solution for farmers growing cereals like Wheat, Maize, Sorghum, and Sugarcane who need to keep their fields free from competing weeds like Chenopodium (Bathua), Convolvulus (Bindweed), and others.
🎯 Selective Action:
Specifically targets broadleaf weeds (dicots) while leaving narrow-leaf crops (monocots like Wheat, Maize, Rice, Sugarcane) safe and unharmed.
🔄 Systemic Killer:
It is absorbed by the leaves and roots of the weed and translocated throughout the plant system, killing the weed completely—root and all—so it doesn't grow back.
👃 Low Volatility (Safer):
Being an Amine Salt formulation, it is less volatile (less likely to turn into gas and drift) compared to the older "Ester" formulations. This makes it safer to use near sensitive crops, though caution is still required.
💧 Highly Soluble:
Dissolves easily in water, ensuring a uniform spray mixture and no nozzle clogging.
💰 Cost-Effective:
One of the most economical solutions available for broadleaf weed control in large acreage.

Adama 2,4-D Main is a potent herbicide. Incorrect usage can damage crops. Follow instructions strictly.
Dosage:
Wheat / Maize / Sorghum: 300 ml – 400 ml per acre.
Sugarcane: 600 ml – 800 ml per acre.
Aquatic Weeds: Higher dosage required (consult local guidelines).
Timing:
Post-Emergence: Apply when weeds are young and actively growing (2-4 leaf stage).
Wheat: Apply 30–35 days after sowing. (Do not apply too early or at ear-head stage).
Maize/Sorghum: Apply as a directed spray between rows to avoid contact with the crop whorl.
Method:
Use a Flat Fan Nozzle or Flood Jet Nozzle for herbicides (do not use the same nozzle used for insecticides).
Mix with 150–200 liters of water per acre.
Q1: Can I use this on Cotton or Soybeans?
A: ABSOLUTELY NOT. Cotton, Soybeans, Pulses, and Vegetables are broadleaf crops. Even a small drift of 2,4-D will destroy these crops. Use it only on cereal crops like Wheat, Maize, Rice, or Sugarcane.
Q2: How is the "Amine" salt different from the "Ethyl Ester" powder?
A: The Amine salt (liquid) is safer because it doesn't evaporate and drift as easily as the Ester (powder/oil) forms. This reduces the risk of accidentally damaging your neighbor's field. It is also easier to mix.
Q3: When should I spray it in Wheat?
A: The timing is critical. Spray between 30 to 35 days after sowing.
Too early: Can damage the young wheat plant.
Too late: Can deform the ear-head (grain) and reduce yield.
Q4: Will it kill grasses?
A: No. It is ineffective against grassy weeds (like Phalaris minor or Gulli Danda). For mixed weed flora, you may need to mix it with a grass-killer (like Clodinafop), provided they are compatible.
Q5: How long does it persist in the soil?
A: 2,4-D breaks down relatively quickly in the soil (usually within 2–4 weeks), so it generally does not affect the next crop in the rotation.
