Ripen Faster. Harvest Together.
Bayer Ethrel is a highly versatile and powerful Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) that puts you in complete control of your harvest timeline. Powered by Ethephon, it works by penetrating the plant tissues and safely breaking down into ethylene—the natural plant hormone responsible for ripening and maturity.
+1
Whether you need to turn a field of green tomatoes bright red, force cotton bolls to burst open simultaneously, or safely ripen harvested mangoes without dangerous chemicals, Ethrel is the ultimate tool to ensure uniform maturity, vibrant color, and premium market prices.
🍅 Uniform Ripening (Tomatoes & Fruits):
Stops the hassle of picking tomatoes or coffee berries a few at a time over several weeks. Ethrel synchronizes the ripening process, allowing you to harvest the entire crop in one or two passes.
☁️ Cotton Boll Opening:
In late-season Cotton, Ethrel is sprayed to force mature, stubborn bolls to open up fully. This makes picking easier and ensures you don't lose late-season yield to frost or sudden rains.
🍍 Pineapple Flowering:
For Pineapple farmers, Ethrel is magical. A precisely timed spray forces the entire field to flower at the exact same time, leading to a perfectly synchronized harvest.
🥭 The Safe Alternative to Carbide:
For post-harvest fruit ripening (like Mango and Papaya), Ethrel is the legally approved, scientifically safe alternative to harmful Calcium Carbide. It gives fruits a beautiful, natural color without toxic residues.

Bayer Ethrel requires precise dosage depending on exactly what you are trying to achieve.
For Cotton (Boll Opening):
Dosage: 500 ml to 800 ml per acre.
Timing: Apply when about 60-70% of the bolls are already open and the remaining bolls are fully mature but unopened.
For Tomato & Coffee (Uniform Ripening on Plant):
Dosage: 400 ml to 500 ml per acre. * Timing: Apply when 10-30% of the fruits have started turning color (the "breaker" stage).
For Mango/Papaya (Post-Harvest Ripening Dip):
Dosage: 1.5 ml to 2 ml per liter of water.
Method: Dip the freshly harvested, mature green fruits in the solution for 2 to 5 minutes. Remove, dry them in the shade, and pack them. They will ripen beautifully in a few days.
Q1: Is Ethrel safe for human consumption if used for ripening Mangoes?
A: Yes, absolutely. Unlike Calcium Carbide (which contains traces of arsenic and phosphorus), Ethrel simply releases ethylene gas—the exact same natural gas fruits produce themselves when ripening. It is globally approved for safe fruit ripening.
Q2: Will Ethrel kill my Tomato plants?
A: Because Ethrel accelerates the aging process (senescence) of the plant, spraying it will cause the leaves to yellow and drop off faster. This is normal. You only spray Ethrel at the very end of the season when you want to ripen the final flush of fruits quickly and clear the field.
Q3: Can I spray it on immature green fruits to make them red?
A: NO. Ethrel does not "cook" the fruit; it accelerates the natural ripening process. The fruit must be physiologically mature (fully grown and developed) before applying Ethrel. If applied to young, immature fruit, they will just drop off the plant or shrivel up.
Q4: Can I mix Ethrel with my insecticides or fungicides?
A: It is generally recommended to spray Ethrel alone. It is an acid-based formulation and mixing it with other agrochemicals can alter its pH, reducing its effectiveness or causing severe crop burn.
